Pivots in 2013

MJ launched Kaplan Consulting 12 years ago, and this year we will take a hiatus. MJ is honored to be an Ian Axford Fellow with Fulbright New Zealand, based in Wellington.  She will research the role of social enterprise to grow employment opportunities, especially for youth, sponsored by the Ministry of Social Development.

About MJ Kaplan

MJ is on the go!  Her work is transforming, just like her clients.  Some of those changes are intentional (note Kaplan Consulting’s tag line).  Some are organic, such as her increased role teaching at Brown University.  Even serendipity plays a role such as her connection to Leading Women Without Borders and her pro bono consulting with Amigos de Santa Cruz, a social enterprise in Guatemala.

Bold Pivot 2012

This has been a year of important pivots for me and many of my clients.  In Pittsburgh, I have been working with a 30 year old community development intermediary that decided to close its operations and invest the assets to start up a new, innovative enterprise.
